Critique

An entry of 26 from 25 dogs on a Friday and without CCs on offer was quite pleasing. I found them somewhat uneven in size and type, some rather long cast instead of compact and short coupled. Movement could have been better all round. Some out of coat exhibits would obviously look different in full plumage. A vivacious and happy little breed, most gave of their best. My Best of Breed was far ahead of anything else in this entry and got 4th in the group placing, in what looked like a strong Utility group.

PD (2,1) 1 Serman’s Tymy Tyma Justing. 9 months old and quite a smart little chap, not 100% sure at first if he liked the place or not, but grew in confidence as time went on and by the time he came back for BP he knew it all! Precise mover, good silhouette standing, firm body and an alert expression. Sympathetically handled.

OD (8,1) Good class. Wright’s Ch Orion Mirror Image. Best of Breed. 5 years and an easy winner. Well proportioned shapely dog of excellent quality and type. Attractive head, intelligent and keen expression. Lovely outline and tailset. Well presented coat, stylish and brimming with confidence. Easily the best mover on the day, well handled. 2 and Res Best Dog, Furber’s Oberitz Cozmopolitan at Holban. 4 years, showy and attentive to his handler when he concentrated. Well set and carried tail, keen bright expression, excellent front. Not moving as well behind as the winner. 3 Potts’ Flactem Reflections mit Rimazet. Sired by my Best of Breed.

PB (3,2) 1 Hayward’s Don’t Look Back. 8 months b/w and very reluctant to let me see her mouth and not a happy girl on the day. Feminine head, good body, clean coat and moved ok. Needs to learn the ropes and to relax on the table.

PGB (6,1) 1 Blight’s Nosregor Tazmania Girl at Rosechow. Res Best Bitch. 3 year old quality Klein but should not carry any more weight. Well balanced outline, good coat. Intelligent expression, well laid shoulders. Good bone, legs and feet. Moved ok, steady showgirl. 2 Hawker’s Uptown Girl D’Arlande of Chilite (Imp). 2 years and shown a bit plump. Feeling the heat on the day. High set tail, made the most of herself standing and moving, plenty of coat. 3 Furber’s Holbain Profile.

OB (5,2) 1 and Best Bitch, Storm’s Ch Stormavon Spirit in the Sky. JW. 2 years and a showy and well coated bitch in splendid form. Pleasing head, expressive eyes and well carried ears. Alert and focused on the job. Good outline, lovely body and a stylish mover, but a bit restricted with her front action. Daughter of the BOB. 2 Serman’s Shetlock Infatuation Among Tymy. 2 and a half years and completely naked, but has nothing to hide. Pretty head, very good topline. Showed and moved happily. Would like to see her in coat. 3 Hawker’s Chilite Okeechobee.

I found the Mittels more difficult to judge than the Kleins - movement was not good, absentees reduced the entry of 29 dogs to 22, which still wasn’t bad for a Friday.

PD (2,1) 1 and Best Puppy, Beard’s Wyndlee Chandera Spectre. 8 months and a bit overdone for me. I hope he has stopped growing. Masculine head, well fitting jacket. Fit and healthy with a delightful outgoing temperament. Bit long cast at the moment, moved well behind but needs to tighten up in front.

PGD (6,1) 1 and Best of Breed, Powell’s Desaria Flash Gordon at Brookwell. 2 years brown sable and quite a striking colour, I thought. Handsome dog in good coat, beautifully clean and well presented. Tight feet, very nice silhouette when he was alert. Good ribcage, body and quarters. Quality head and a brisk mover once settled. 2 Beard’s Wyndlee Blue Horizon. 15 months, no mistaking his sex. All male in head, expression and attitude. Happy, carefree character, good body and coat. Failed in front movement. 3 3 Mulholland’s Umshumbwe Faccia Die Angelo.

OD (8,1) 1 and Res Best Dog, Powell’s Ch Desaria Disraeli at Brookwell. 3 years sable, handsome dog with a good coat and beautifully clean and well presented. Compact body, quality head, high set and carried tail. Keen showman who responded well to his handler. Thought he was my Best Dog with a change of handler in the challenge he didn’t move very well and lost his concentration, while his younger brother pulled out all the stops and looked very much the part. 2 Beard’s Wyndlee Ghost in my House. 3 year old high spirited showman. Attractive and well proportioned with a good outline. Feet a little splayed on this floor, showed non-stop. 3 Powell’s Desaria Aurelius at Brookwell.

PGB (5) 1 Blight’s Rosechow Chantilly Lace. 4 years dark sable and a keen showgirl. Well fitting jacket, feminine pretty head, alert and intelligent expression. Good body and quarters. Well handled. Front could be better. 2 Roberts’ Veratina Bonnie Blue. 3 years old and a smart mover, keen and alert outlook. Firm body, not in full coat. 3 Bridle’s Abbeyhome Abundance in Black.

OB (8,1) 1 and Best Bitch, Powell’s Desaria Fanny Ann at Brookwell. Pretty blue, litter sister to Best of Breed, so 3 out of 4 of my top winners were the same way bred. Pleasing head, bright expression. Showed with composure, clean coat and well bodied and conditioned. Moved ok, good outline. 2 Roskell’s Ch Galvizach Holy Smoke JW. Res BB. 7 years black, expertly handled and in good form for her age. Well balanced outline, really looked the part standing. Very showy and composed, good head and eyes. Not moving as well as the winner. 3 Curson and Hindley’s Ch Shelaynes Little Showgirl.
