Critique

GERMAN SPITZ (KLEIN)

I have been away from the ringside for some years so I approached this appointment with some curiosity. Would I be disappointed with the progress of the breed? Would I find enough dogs of exceptional quality to make my day? Well, I am very pleased to say that I was absolutely delighted with my winners and there were plenty of other dogs pushing them hard. I think the breeders and exhibitors should give themselves a well deserved pat on the back for a 'job very well done'.
There are two exceptional dogs that I had previously awarded CC's, Ch.B-Fritzi von Cottas, such wonderful bone and substance with a fabulous head and coat, and quite the best movement I had seen from any Klein; and Ch. Orion Mirror Image, such a picture in profile, so well balanced with a really gorgeous head and like Fritzi a truly stand off coat of excellent texture. I as thrilled to day to see that these two dogs have stamped these attributes on so many of their offspring.
So many of my class winners could unmistakably claim these two dogs in their lineage. Finally,  today I added a third dog to my list of 'greats'. I thought my dog CC and BOB was quite outstanding.
More of him later - but what a star.

VETERAN DOG (2,0 absent)

1st. Allison's TERELATIM WINDY MILLER.
2nd Trendle's LUSAM CHARLIE DOBBY.
Two very nice veteran dogs. Both had excellent bodies with good ribbing and short loin, nice bone and moved with assurance and spring. Just preferred the head, stop and skull, and neck of winner, though he was a touch round in eye.

SPECIAL PUPPY DOG (6,1 absent)

1st Allison's OBERITZ SUNSHINE. Orange sable - my notes say B-Fritzi in type and substance. Got to be good. Really lovely head with beautiful eye. Good body and legs. Excellent tailset and good bone. Nice one indeed. BEST PUPPY. Well done.
2nd Norkett's APPLEBANKS THRUPPENCE. Cream, very similar in type to first but felt muzzle was a tad on the fine side and ears could be a bit higherset. Having said that has a beautiful shape with lovely balance and moved well.
3rd Wright's MINIGARDEN EMIL LOVELYBOY(IMP) White, looking very much the teenager. Nice type indeed with a really great coat ofquality. A nice head with excellent pigment, but eye is too round. Just needs time to fill his frame.

SPECIAL JUNIOR DOG (2,0 absent)

1st Bradbury's WYCHLEA RHONDAY VOOH. Black with a stunning head. Beautifully balanced with lovely eye. Good bite. Really excellent body and neck. Good tailset. Free movement. Nice one.
2nd Beard (handling for McCulloch) FLACTEM WHIZZBY AT MACPAWS. Cream, not in his best coat, but what there was of good quality. Nice enough head with good neat ears, wellset. Rounder in eye. Needs more body.

POST GRADUATE DOG (8,1 absentee)

1st O'Rourke's DAJELILNE CHARIZARD. Profusely, quality coated cream. Excellent body and bone. Lovely neat ears, well set and good pigment. Stop a bit too deep. Moving well.
2nd Hayward's HOLBAIN COOL FOOL. Brown and white parti of very nice type. Excellent, quality coat and tailset.  Lovely neat ears. Would like a flatter skull and less round eye. Beautifully presented.
3rd. Halligan's ICABEL SHINE ON. This black and white parti is a good honest dog. Neat ears,(When shown), with excellent coat and in goodcondition. Skull is a little too broad, though muzzle is good. Alot to like about him.

LIMIT DOG (6,0 absentees)

1st Andrew's PORTERBLE SIRIUS BLACK FROM RUNFOLD. Really lovely typy black. From tip to tail, so much to like. He really has a quite lovely head, so well balanced with the neatest of ears and a super bite. Sufficient neck, into a wellmade, sturdy body, finished off with an excellent tailset. The more I saw of him the more I liked him. In the challenge beat some good competition to win Reserve CC. I would predict a change of name in the not too distant future.
2nd Allison's OBERITZ RENEGADE. Another black, slightly smaller, but again of excellent type and quality. Such lovely balance when standing. Excellent tailset and very good quality coat. Would prefer a less round eye.
3rd Trendle's LUSAM CRISPIN BLUNT. Completed a trio of very typy dogs of substance and quality. This boy is a touch on the big side, but he has such a beautiful head and expression. That together with his free flowing action earned him this place.

OPEN DOG (15, 2 absentees)

1st Valkeinen's CH THOMDY DOM'S FAIRY, KING (Fin).
What not to love about this dog. Absolutely sparkling white with super black pigment. He has a beautifully balanced head with the sweetest expression. Neat ears, so well set. Good length neck to give him lovely balance and elegance. Really great to go over on the table, with firm, short couplings and good deep ribbing. Elbows tight in. Excellent tail set and good bone. Such a good quality coat, not so long as to hide his lovely shape, plenty of undercoat and harsh straight top coat. He moved straight fore and aft and with a great, springy and brisk side action. What a great dog. I had no hesitation giving him this class, CC and BOB. Beautifully presented in tip top condition. Very well done and Thank You for bringing him.
2nd Pearce and Francis' STORMAVON SPECIAL TO ME. Another dog of such excellent quality and type. A very nice head, though I would like a little less skull. Excellent eye and pigment. Sound body, really nice to handle with good ribbing and short loin. So well balanced with bone and quality coat. A really nice dog another of the B-Fritzi mould. Very well handled and presented.
3rd Highmoor's CH. KARTMEL LEGOLAS. A lovely black. To handle this dog has plenty of body, good ribs and short loin. Excellent coat and good bone and feet. Really lovely head. Paddling in front let him down, but is of obvious quality.

GOOD CITIZEN DOG SCHEME DOG (3, 0 absent)

1st Trendle's LUSAM CHARLIE DOBBY
2nd Trendle's LUSAM TUFF TALKIN' (ShCM). A sable who frankly seemed quite bored by the whole affair - hey mate you're at Crufts! Nice body and quality coat. Head OK but skull a little too rounded.
3rd Trendle's LUSAM CRISPIN BLUNT

VETERAN BITCH (4, 1 absent)

1st Trendle's CH. LUSAM BEATIY ROMANCE. A black bitch most decidedly not 10 years old on today's evidence. Fantastic body and coat and standing presents a great balance of superb type. Moved very well. Not disgraced to stand in the challenge in what was a superb quality line up I was proud of.
2nd Wright's CHILITE MIDNIGHT MAGIC. Another nice typy black. Has a very pretty head and expression. A touch longer in body and finer in bone than the winner.
3rd Tullis' RAMBOOBI JOYRIDER. Brown and white parti could show the youngsters how to move in such a typical spitzy fashion. She is a little on the long side. Her condition was excellent.

SPECIAL PUPPY BITCH (5, 0 absent)

1st Moir's STORMAVON SKY FLYER TO JANSANLEIS. A cream of excellent type. Such a pretty head and eye with a lovely feminine expression. Excellent body, as all could see because she was lacking somewhat in coat! Really lots to like.
2nd Hill's TYMY TOUBILLOIN OF KILIMA. Another classy girl standing and pretty as a picture. Handled very well on the table with good body. Moved very well.
3rd Holmes' SPARKLING TOPAZ. Very pretty brown, completing a trio with lovely outlines. Pretty head and neat ears. Would like a little more bone to better balance the body and a little less skully.

SPECIAL JUNIOR BITCH (10; 2 absent)

1st Bradbury's WYCHLEA ISADORA BALL. A beautiful black exuding breed type with stacks of quality. Excellent head and expression, though ears a touch wide set. Great body and bone. Very classy, has so much that I look for.
2nd Highmoor's PRINTZAGEMS TEMPTATION. Black and white parti. A really pretty bitch this. Handles so very well on the table. Very nice head and expression. Standing you need to look past her markings which can make her look longer and less well balanced than she actually is.
3rd Garwood's PRINTZAGEMS TANTALIZE. A black who presents a very nice outline indeed. Very pretty head and neat, well set ears. Would like a little more bone. Needs to strengthen in pastern to improve front movement.

POST GRADUATE BITCH (11,2 absent)

1st Allison OBERITZ RAVEN. I really liked this black. She has such a well balanced outline. Good substance and body. Beautifully balanced head with excellent skull and muzzle proportions. A very good mover.
2nd Gittoes MOLEAD MAJIC QUEEN AT JENDALE. A brown with a very good shape standing. Square outline, good neck and excellent coat of quality. Would like a little more bone.
3rd Thomas' GAMEGARDS CHRISTMAS FAIRY. Cream who is a little long for excellent balance. Has good bone and ribbing, with a quality coat. Excellent movement and all round honesty earned her this placing.

LIMIT BITCH (11,2 absent)

1st Tullis' RADAJASA DOUBLE FIZZION. A gorgeous white beauty. Standing she has such a well balanced and elegant outline, strength of body and bone, without losing an iota of femininity. On closer inspection she has a beautiful head and expression with excellent pigment. She has substance, good ribs and short loin, excellent tail set. Very good bone and nice neat feet. Her undercoat supports a quality topcoat. Presentation was excellent. To round all this off she moved a treat, true fore and aft, with the typical Spitz side action, brisk and purposeful. My final line up for Bitch CC was, to my eye, as good as it gets, and this girl topped the lot. Bitch CC. Her third - congratulations.
2nd Allison's OBERITZ ASTROBEE. A really very nice black who pushed the winner hard and was not disgraced coming second. Such a very pretty, feminine and beautifully balanced head and neat well set ears. Another with very good balance standing. Handles so well on the table. Close decision.
3rd Bradbury's WYCHLEA MARNIE BROWN. Brown of similar quality and type to the first two. Great coat, substance and outling. Head not quite as feminine, though well proportioned. What a nice class this was.

OPEN BITCH (6, 1 absent)

1st Wright and Storm's CH ORlON ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. Half sister to my CC winner, both being by Mirror Image. It's an old cliche, but true nonetheless, so many of my comments about my CC winner apply here. Such beautiful femininity without losing substance or bone. Solidly built and standing has such a classic outline. Quite the prettiest of heads. Length of neck to give elegance. Couldn't be overlooked in the challenge. Reserve CC.
2nd Bradbury's CH WYCHLEA AIMY VOOH. A black of such quality. Great body and substance. Short, strong loin. An absolutely gorgeous head and eye. Carries a huge coat that could be harsher. When standing coat tends to mask a good outline. Movement was not the best being close behind and paddling in front. Her other exceptional qualities won her this place.
3rd Breen's KYLECROFT SYMPHONY. Very pretty dark cream. Well balanced head, good eye and ear. Handles well on the table with good ribs and bone. Not in the best of coats today.

GOOD CITIZEN DOG SCHEME BITCH (5, 1 absent)

1st CH. LUSAM BEATTY ROMANZE
2nd Breen's HASWETH SHADY LADY AT KYLECROFT. Fawn with a nice shape and lots of style. Enjoying today. Frisky movement.
3rd CHILITE MIDNIGHT MAGIC.

Thank you for a great day and providing me with so much pleasure.
