Critique

German Spitz Klein

I had eagerly awaited this appointment but have to say I was bitterly disappointed in the overall lack of quality. I hope that my entry was not representative of the breed in general. South Wales’ move to Builth Wells in late October was bound to have an adverse effect on the entry, as was borne out by other breeds.

I was particularly upset to find so many Pomeranian heads, little stick legs & very short ribs & low set tails. I was also disturbed to find evidence of nervousness & aggression. The Klein is a small dog of substance, happy & confident, he should never be considered toy-like & it is of vital importance to maintain the type & temperament.

MPD (2) 1 Beck’s Lasaulette Rustic-Rudyard, 6 months b/w, in full coat but with a very solid body, well off for bone, well shaped & placed eye, well filled cheeks, neat feet, correct tail, moved well; 2 Holmes’ Lumburg Golden Jason, 6 months gold, very much a baby, needs to grow all over, not quite ready for the ring yet perhaps. PD (2) 1 L Rustic-Rudyard; 2 L Golden Jason. JD (1) 1 Allison’s Oberitz Sunshine, very attractive gold, in good coat, typical in outline, masculine head, correct eye, expression & ear placement, neat feet, moved well. PGD (3) A very poor class. 1 Hamer’s Dajelilne Charmander, gold, good coat, square body, good feet; 2 Hughes & Forrester’s Candease Back To The Future, black, oversize with no confidence; 3 Hughes’ Holbain Bill Too. LD (5) 1 & 2 dogs of good quality & type. 1 Serman’s Tymy Tymex, wolf/s within the Standard for size, lovely in outline & did not disappoint under the beautiful coat, proper broad nearly flat skull, wedge shaped, correct proportions between skull & muzzle, short strong neck, correctly angled shoulder, good straight bone & neat feet, well ribbed, strong short loin, correct rear angulation & high set tail, sound & light on his feet, just the way they should be, complemented with his wonderful coat of correct harsh texture. CC & BOB; 2 Holmes’ Oberitz Prinz Charming, blonde dog of great presence, very full of himself & so eyecatching, good for size & substance, really scored in head, forechest, bone & feet, square, good body, correct tail placement, moved with style; 3 D Charmander. OD (5) 1 Chambers’ Ch Nosregor Hot Shot for Musique, very attractive & eyecatching brown, in super coat of correct texture, typical in outline & good size, flat skull, well proportioned muzzle, great square body, deep rib & strong loin, level topline, very balanced throughout, sound on the move. RCC; 2 Mole’s Molead Moon Beam, gold of quality & type, scored in eye, expression & ear, square body & correct tail, good bone, neat feet; 3 Andrews’ Ch Porterble Sirius Black from Runfold.

MPB (5) 1 Storm’s Stormavon Snowdrop, black of quality, good for size & substance, feminine head, flat skull, good length of muzzle, correct eye shape & colour, small triangular ears set into good neck & shoulders, well off for bone, neat feet, level topline, high set tail, moved really well for such a baby. BP; 2 Serman’s Tymy Footsteps, very similar in type & quality & I think will trouble the other bitch in a while. Very showy, feminine, scored in head, eye & ear, front straight with good bone, level topline, short loin, correct tail. Just really needs to learn her craft which will come in time; 3 Hamer’s Lasaulette Tipp Top Tilly. PB (5) 1 S Snowdrop; 2 Serman’s Tymy Quicksteps, quality black of really impressive make & shape, very balanced & typical, head, eye & ear very pleasing, correct rib & topline, high set tail, good coat texture, very promising youngster; 3 Morgan’s Lusam Maybe Baby at Ahlenagen. JB (2) 1 Metcalfe’s Longsdale Lady Myla at Flactem, this bitch was not to my liking, too small & fine. PGB (3) 1 Highmoor Chambers’ Jolieville Starlight, brown, sound & well put together, correct in most departments, very good front & forechest, level topline, well set tail, moved with style & presence; 2 Penwarne’s Sheldamar Spell On Yoo, black, very well balanced & sound, square, good sturdy body, level topline, good bone, neat cat feet, very feminine in head, correct eye & expression; 3 Thomas’ Gamegards Sugar Loaf Fairy. LB (5,1) 1 Storm’s Stormavon Scotch Mist, eyecatching cream of quality & substance, good size, balanced & typical, very sound & stylish on the move; 2 Gittoes’ Molead Majic Queen at Jendale, brown, very sweet bitch, feminine & balanced, square & sound in body, in lovely condition; 3 Thomas’ Gamecards Christmas Fairy. OB (6,1) 1 Dyer’s Ch Wychlea The Dutchess, I think the German Spitz Standard was written with this bitch in mind. She is quality through & through, correct for size & substance, the very best head proportions of the entry, correct in front, deep rib & forechest, square in body, level topline, short strong loin, high set tail, good round bone, neat cat feet, so sound & light in her movement, a real proper Klein. CC; 2 Wright & Storm’s Ch Orion Absolutely Fabulous, lovely champagne coloured feminine bitch of quality, balanced & sound, square, good bone & feet, correct in front, level topline, good tail, in beautiful condition. RCC. These were two very special bitches; 3 Allison’s Oberitz Astrobee.
