Critique
GERMAN SPITZ
MITTEL As usual I was looking forward to my judging appointment, but I was disappointed with the overall quality of some of the exhibits: where have the substance and bone gone? Movement also needs to be watched.
PD (6,1) 1 Hewett’s Spellcast Secret and Lies. Beautiful and well balanced cream dog. Well placed ears and dark, oval shaped eyes, correct mouth. Good bone, high set tail and tight feet. He moved and showed well. Best Puppy. 2 Alfred’s Liubice Just William. White dog, wedge shaped head and small, well set ears, dark eyes and correct mouth. High set tail and moved well. 3 Smith’s Wyndlee Ghostly Magic.
JD (3,1) 1 Alfred’s Liubice Just William. 2 Beard’s Wyndlee Huggy Bear. Chocolate dog, lovely wedge shaped head. Compact with a harsh coat. Preferred the movement of the winner.
PGD (6,1) 1 Bray’s Abbicher Oh Boy. Pleasing dog with wedge shaped head. Good bone and short coupled with a level topline. Moved ok. 2 Samuel’s Spellcast Urban Legend with Runestone. Black dog with a pleasing head, preferred the ear placement of the winner. Level topline, high set tail and moved ok. 3 Williams’ Druitz Cadfael.
LD (3,1) Movement needs to be watched. 1 Powell’s Desaria Flash Gordon at Brookwell. Scored on bone. Nice wedge shaped head. Level topline and a high set tail. Harsh coat. 2 Purves’ Bulabs Polabear. Unfortunately out of coat on the day. Well placed ears and a pleasing head. High set tail and level topline.
OD (8,2) 1 Chambers’ Ch Druitz Corncracker for Teamspitz. This dog had all the qualities I was looking for. A worthy Champion ad an excellent specimen of the breed. Alert, compact cream dog with a beautiful, masculine head and good pigment and bone. Moderately short neck, sloping shoulders and a moderate tuck up. High set tail, profuse harsh coat. In good firm condition and moved brisly around the ring. CC and BOB. 2 Thurston’s Rossfort Caractacus for Liubice. Another compact and well knit dog. Short neck well set into shoulders. Well boned with moderate tuck up, high set tail and small, cat like feet. Good coat, moved and showed well to the Res CC. 3 Rogerson’s Nosregor Kateandy Mougi-Dhoo.
PB (3) 1 Beard’s Sobriety Fifth Elemant. Compact white bitch with dark eyes and good pigment, correct mouth. Short coupled with good bone and a high set tail. Moved and showed well. 2 Poultney’s Daraydala Diana Dors. Orange sable with a nice feminine head. A compact and well knit puppy with good bone. Level topline and she moved and showed well. 3 Purves’ Rossfort Griselda.
JB (2,1) 1 Cleworth’s Kasshyk Midnight Flyer. Pleasing head and good pigment. Well muscled, not in full coat on the day. Moved and showed well.
PGB (6,3) 1 Moir’s Nixtev Liberty at Jananleis. Compact white bitch with a lovely, feminine wedge shaped head and good pigment and bone. Moderately sloping shoulder and a level topline, small rounded feet. Harsh coat and moved and showed well. 2 Williams’ Druitz Melisande. Feminine orange bitch with a lovely wedge shaped head. Well ribbed up with a level topline and good bone. High tailset and a harsh coat. Moved and showed well. 3 Bray’s Abbicher Lily Langtree.
LB (6,1) 1 Garbutt’s Nixtev Lexis. Beautiful feminine bitch with well placed, small ears and dark oval eyes, good mouth. Good bone and a short neck and moderate forechest. Well developed loin and a level topline. Harsh coat. Moved and showed well. Res CC. 2 Pooley’s Wyndlee Fallen Angel from Akaban. 8 years old and in good condition. Lovely feminine head, good front and reach of neck. Short coupled wth good bone and a high set tail. Moved and showed well. 3 Beard’s Spilmah Penny Lane in Wyndlee.
OB (9,2) Four top quality bitches who could change places on another day. 1 Thurston’s Rossfort Xanadu from Liubice. Beautiful, alert and compact cream bitch. Beautiful alert and compact cream with a feminine head and small, triangular and well placed ears, dark oval shaped eyes and a good mouth. Good bone, short neck and a level topline. Short coupled with a moderate forechest and well ribbed with a high set tail. In good coat and she moved and showed well. CC. 2 Hewett’s Runfold Eternal at Spellcast. 8 year old black and tan bitch and similar attributes to the winner. Ample bone and a level topline, high set tail and she moved and showed well. 3 Chambers’ Ch Nosregor Bewitched for Musique.
